11:00: Geology of the Burren – Talk with Cormac McGinley<\/strong><\/div>\n
Cormac McGinley of \u2018Cormac\u2019s Coasts\u2019 is a zoologist and marine biologist providing private guided walking tours for of the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and coastal areas of County Clare. Join us in Coole Park Visitor Centre to learn about the fascinating landscape of the Burren.<\/div>\n

11:30-13:15: IN Stone Exhibition – Presentation & Demonstration<\/strong><\/div>\n
We have partnered with the Irish Natural Stone from the Burren, Co. Clare for a unique exhibition of carved limestone sculptures. Sculptural artists working from IN Stone\u2019s dedicated art and studio space, will present their craftsmanship in the Visitor Centre in Coole Park Nature Reserve followed by a demonstration of their craft in the Haggard. The exhibition of works will run until the end of September.<\/div>\n

14:30-15:30: Turlough Hydrology – Guided Walk with Dr. Tiernan Henry<\/strong><\/div>\n
Tiernan Henry has worked in and around and with water for the best part of 30 years. A graduate of TCD, he completed his MSc in Madison, WI in the USA and his PhD in Galway. As a hydrogeologist his teaching and research is focused on the relationships between water and the ground: exploring how water changes and is changed by the ground, and how the ground changes and is changed by the water. He\u2019s currently working on research projects on peatlands in Co. Sligo, secret turloughs near Slieve Elva in Co. Clare, deep-seated karst structures in Irish limestones, and Ireland\u2019s geothermal potential. Over the course of three decades he has managed to get soaked in as many ways as is possible: hail, rain, snow. He\u2019s fallen into rivers, fallen over in rivers, he\u2019s gotten soaked in quarries, on mountains, bogs and in caves. He\u2019s been soaked in mines, on drill sites and on beaches. Hopefully you won’t get wet on his walk!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
