BAN ON FIRES OR BBQs in NATIONAL PARKS<\/p>\n

Longest day of the year today and Summer sunshine promised! We all want to get out and enjoy the continued good weather but let\u2019s do it responsibly – without putting nature at risk.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We\u2019re appealing to everyone to be vigilant and NOT light fires or BBQs in public places. That includes our National Parks and Nature Reserves, coastal sand dunes, mountains and upland areas, forests, meadows and urban parks. Wildfires like the recent ones in Wild Nephin Co Mayo are a devastating reminder of how fragile our natural world is. This destruction not only scars the landscape, destroys habitats and species but also deprives communities of cherished spaces for education, recreation, and connection with nature.<\/p>\n

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has increased ground crews on fire patrol and has ramped up aerial monitoring this weekend. If you do notice a fire, do not delay, please call the emergency services on 112 or 999 immediately and give clear details as regards location.<\/p>\n

Where fire outbreaks occur at or near recreational areas the following actions should be taken by visitors in the interests of safety.<\/p>\n
